What the F is happening to the world economy???

What the F is happening to the world????

The eastern world it is explodin’,
violence flarin’, bullets loadin’,
you’re old enough to kill but not for votin’,
you don’t believe in war, what’s that gun you’re totin’,
and even the Jordan river has bodies floatin’,
but you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction.

Don’t you understand, what I’m trying to say?
Can’t you see the fear that I’m feeling today?
If the button is pushed, there’s no running away,
There’ll be no one to save with the world in a grave,
take a look around you, boy, it’s bound to scare you, boy,
but you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction.

Yeah, my blood’s so mad, feels like coagulatin’,
I’m sittin’ here, just contemplatin’,
I can’t twist the truth, it knows no regulation,
handful of Senators don’t pass legislation,
and marches alone can’t bring integration,
when human respect is disintegratin’,
this whole crazy world is just too frustratin’,
and you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in Red China!
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama!
Ah, you may leave here, for four days in space,
but when your return, it’s the same old place,
the poundin’ of the drums, the pride and disgrace,
you can bury your dead, but don’t leave a trace,
hate your next-door-neighbor, but don’t forget to say grace,
and you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction.

“Eve of Destruction” is a protest song written by P. F. Sloan in 1965.
Several artists have recorded it. (audio is by The Turtles)

1965! 1965 that was written, and sadly it hasn’t lost meaning – we aren’t sitting here as a world community saying – genocide, war, famine, hunger, poverty, racism, I can’t believe people used to do that stuff! We were such silly people back! – then and then pity the sad underdeveloped race we once were.

We are destroying ourselves by #1 killing our ecosystem, by #2 killing each other, and by #3 putting too much emphasis on money. I will be discussing those weekly over this month. Stay tuned.

Happiness Begets Happiness

It is hard sometimes, to really know what is going on in the world. Hatred, poverty, starvation, crime, disease, government sanctioned racism or genocide, etc. However, I am not one to ever believe that there is a finite amount of happiness in the universe. There always has been, and always will be enough to go around if we allow it.

This thought came around when I was wondering what the point was to follow my dreams. Hell, what was the point of doing anything? That’s when that thought hit me – because it makes me happy. And couldn’t the world use a bit more happiness in it?

I try to fight unhappiness everywhere – and it is not easy. I would be happy to know others do as well, or at least want to. I will say this though; you cannot fight unhappiness in the world, if you have not fought it in yourself. That was my first step.

It is good find and do the things you enjoy, and really allow yourself to enjoy them – whether that is crafting, biking, hiking, video games, miniatures, painting, writing, whatever.

I mean, going back to my previous post John Green talks about how filling the needs of the world/people by doing what you really want – Entrepreneurs are what we need…” Do what you really want, make that a profitable (money or otherwise) adventure for yourself.

Besides what John said in his post about making the overall “Pizza” bigger – there is the amount of happiness that can be spread. Yes, Hank and John Green do a lot of good with their ideas, but you don’t have to by Mother Theresa, I feel that the reason to do anything is to allow more joy into the world.

You may say – yeah, but I really need the money. I understand, but what is all that wealth or at least “sustainability” do for you if you die at an early age from an aneurism from stress… or worse live a very long and miserable life. It isn’t good for you, and it isn’t good for those you come in contact with!

You may not believe this, but everyone is empathic to some extent. The emotions of the people around you can easily affect you, even if you don’t realize it or understand how/why. And it can work vice versa.

It’s probably a bit existential to say – but imagine that emotions are let out of us like gas, even if we do not realize that it is coming out (colorless and scentless) it is and it floats out into the atmosphere where it collects. If we don’t enjoy ourselves and find happiness in the things we do or have then the air is polluted with negativity. BUT if we can be kind to ourselves, others and all the creatures around us – the atmosphere becomes clean, fresh, breatheable and wonderful. Like Double-Rainbows, fresh flowers delivered from a secret admirer, a brand new unopened game ready to be played and conquered, good food cooking in the kitchen, fresh baked pies/cakes/brownies/cookies, the smell of the earth after a refreshing rain… I could go on…

I would like to take a step back and take a moment to advocate for animals here and say that if we can stop torturing snakes for their skin, or forcibly and painfully plucking feathers from water fowl to stuff our pillows and jackets, puppy-mills, closed and crowded caging of domesticated farm animals… I think that stopping the unhappiness of animals can also help create more happiness in the world. In fact, if we can do anything to stop these things we should! Advocate for Kosher products, don’t use anything that is not ethically sourced – or even better, besides eating the meat, don’t buy any animal products as fashion accessories or anything tested on animals.

It’s like a bit of inertia, once things are set in motion, they tend to stay in motion. Good choices lead to more good choices – which works in all aspects of life. I find when I make a healthy choice (eating healthier foods, going to Pilates or yoga, etc.) suddenly I find myself continuing those choices – and I live right near a McDonalds, so the healthy choices make me turn away from the fast food remembering how disgusting it really is.

So, make yourself happy – do something nice for the people around you (doesn’t have to be huge, just help to put happiness in someone else’s life) and try to spread happiness as far as you can reach! Trust me when I say that you will be surprised what can happen when you find your happiness…love, success, and, dang it, freakin’ happiness!
